Okay so, another big piece of news I kept quiet until I had ‘proof’ – I’ve been an intern for a month :)
I’ll have a far more in-depth post about it over on my blog but since early June (yes, it really all did kick off for me in June, didn’t it?) I’ve been making the trip over to York to be the ‘in-house’ illustrator for One&Other. A fabulous company who truly have a vision to reimagine and reconfigure local culture, they have a daily-updated website, a monthly produced magazine, and a TV channel. They’re also looking to expand to mobile and beyond.
Its on the magazine that I’ve been working (with two little ads for the website), and it’s been a fantastic experience! Whatever the debate about internships at the moment, there is no denying how important it is to spend time in a busy working office or studio, and to respond to a brief in real time, getting real feedback and constructive criticism.
The third issue of the mag is unleashed upon the world today and I can’t wait to see my illustrations in print. If you’re in York or thereabouts go get one!
I’d like to thank Jack Casling, the man responsible for the magazine design, for taking a chance on me. A big thank you also to Vicky Parry and Stu Goulden (editorial director and managing director respectively) for making me feel so welcome and part of the One&Other crew. And to everyone I’ve met along the way, thank you also for just being awesome :)
Here’s hoping it leads on to bigger things and that I can still contribute in the future <3
